Meet Cashley!

Hi, I'm Cashley.

My life has been very interesting and exciting too! I was born in Los Angeles, CA at Cedars Sinai Hospital. My parents lived there at the time, and for the first four years of my life all I knew was Los Angeles, great birthday parties, and my friends. But things changed. My dad died. Mom and I had to adjust our lives, and while we had wonderful support people around us, we ultimately decided to move to New York City, where we had family. So, that's what we did! One morning I woke up in Los Angeles and by dinner time we were in New York!

I was excited, not really knowing what to expect. We didn't have a car anymore because we didn't need one. Busses, cabs and the subway were how we got from place to place. Taking a day trip from Manhattan to Brooklyn was an exciting event! And living in New York meant meeting people who had come there from all over the world. I got go to Europe, actually Portugal, when I was 6! My friend Jessica was from the Algarve, and she and her family became our friends, so I went to Portugal with them! We did that for several summers. On other summers I went to sleep away camp!

I started modeling when I was 7 years old. I went to PS 158, and Columbus Academy, and everyone there knew me as Cashley Hiller. I did catalogue modeling for Danskin, collateral for Nikon, starred in an educational film, and went on hundreds of auditions and call backs. I also attended a modeling convention held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel! What an experience! I got to walk the runway, and attend seminars about modeling. I competed in a lot of contests, learned about makeup and met agents from around the world! I even came home with several trophies that I got from winning competitions!

I also attended a summer session at the School for Film and Television, and the lessons I learned there are still with me today. By the way, if you ever see the very first episode of Sex in the City, I'm in it! I was an extra for them, and in other films and TV shows shot in New York.

After nine years in New York, Mom decided that we should be in Florida, where my grandparents were. So, off I went on another adventure, and I finished school in Florida. We owned a modeling school in Florida called Finishing Touch and I worked there, helping teach all the girls makeup, runway, hair and interviewing skills. I enjoyed teaching the most because it let me pass on what I had learned all those years I was a model, and I knew the girls were really enjoying learning all the aspects of the world of modeling.

I'm now a wife, and the mother of two very active little boys, Jacob and Nicholas. My house is covered with trucks and boy toys! But I do like girl things, and really did want to get back in touch with girls and what girls are all about. Makeup. Glamour. Walking that runway. Dressing in great clothes. All of that girl stuff!

So my mother and I created Modeling Do It Yourself and Cashleys Club - so we could take all the lessons we had learned, and pass them on to you.

I hope you enjoy all you learn from Modeling Do It Yourself. I'll be updating my modeling blog several times a week to keep you up to date on what's going on in the modeling world. And you can always email me with questions. I'm here for you, and will try to guide you on your first steps toward becoming a model. Don't be shy - modeling will open up a whole new world for you. And it'll be up to you to decide if you want to go beyond your local market and really make this a career. Just ask me, and I'll try to guide you.

Love,

Cashley
